Thermal Analysis of Mullite Coated Piston Used in a Diesel Engine

Due to special working conditions, diesel engines often need run stably for a long time at high power operating conditions. As the core of engine moving parts, piston needs be exposed temperature time. Based on problem excessive maximum point certain type engine, this paper discussed protective effect using different thicknesses Mullite thermal barrier coating top surface piston, by method hardness plug measurement and three-dimensional simulation. When thickness ceramic was increased from 0.2 0.7 mm, seat decreased 358.6 338.9 °C. This showed that use could reduce aluminum alloy load point, greatly improve reliability components.
